Early Voting

Early Voting

EARLY VOTING: I’ve fielded a lot of questions about the various voting options for the upcoming Council Election.  You have several options to choose from:

A) POSTAL VOTE: In addition to the usual reasons for requesting a postal vote (working, outside of the area, infirm, caring responsibilities etc), this year there is a special box you can tick if you feel uncomfortable attending a polling booth in person due to Covid.  The date for completed postal votes to be returned has also been extended to Friday 17 December.  You can apply online here: https://opva.elections.nsw.gov.au/

B) PRE-POLL: Pre-poll starts on Monday, 22 November and runs until Friday, 3 December (including Saturday, 28 Nov), 9am-5pm. You can pre-poll at any of the 3 locations in Georges River:

Mortdale Community Centre – 2B Boundary Rd

Hurstville Senior Citizens Centre – 91 Queens Rd

Kogarah Senior Citizens Centre – 15 Taylor St

C) IVOTE: Online voting is available in certain cases, primarily if you will be out of the Council area on Election Day or if you haven’t received your postal ballot by 5pm on 26 November.  You can find out more information & apply here:https://elections.nsw.gov.au/Voters/Online-voting-iVote

D) ELECTION DAY (4 DEC): The list of polling booths for Blakehurst Ward can be found here: https://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/Elections/Find-my-electorate/Councils/Georges-River/Blakehurst-Ward

***NB: You must vote at a polling place within your enrolled ward on Election Day
