Independence

In the 7 years that I've known her, I've found Sandy to be a committed, loyal and genuine person.  As a volunteer Technical official with Swimming NSW and a former swimmer herself, I've called upon Sandy for her invaluable support and guidance in promoting the sport of swimming at a grassroots level.  Sandy is a wonderful asset, not only toward our swimming community, but to our local Council community. She is a person of high integrity, and I have no qualms in endorsing her for Council

I met Sandy through the Girls Leadership program she started and was blown away by the impact it had on those that participated. Sandy is an inspiring leader - it's vital that someone with her integrity, leadership and community focused voice be elected to Georges River Council. I encourage you to support Sandy.

Sandy was the only councillor who responded to our pleas to prevent the demolition of a house in McRaes Estate. She supported the residents in ensuring our voice was heard at the council, then Land & Environment Court level. With her help we were successful in preventing overdevelopment in the area. Sandy is a champion for the local community and has our best interests at heart.

Sandy has been amazing in helping The Reconnect Project get established in Penshurst. She advocated for us at Council and was instrumental in getting donation bins installed for collecting mobile devices which we refurbish and donate to people in need. I've seen first-hand how dedicated Sandy is to our community and give my support to her as a truly Independent candidate for Council.

Sandy has been a wonderful supporter of our club and has initiated some great leadership opportunities for young women in our area. She’s volunteered her time to demonstrate to our young members that they are capable of achieving great things on and off the sporting field. We are proud to call Sandy a friend of our club and wholeheartedly support her re-election as an independent candidate.

Whenever we’ve needed help with Council, Sandy has always been there to assist. She and her family have a long association with our club, and Sandy understands first-hand the needs of sporting clubs in our area. She’s been a strong advocate for infrastructure upgrades which has seen an increase in the number of kids playing sport in our area. We need a person with Sandy’s integrity, honesty and connection to community on Council.

Sandy is a genuine independent and a naturally civic-minded community leader; down-to-earth and always with the community’s interest at heart whom we are lucky to have in Georges River. Sandy had the foresight to ask Council if there was a space for a community garden 14 years ago. Today, the Hurstville Community Garden is one of the most healthy, multicultural, inclusive, cross-generational, open green spaces in the area. The garden has seen thousands of visitors over the years from all walks of life thanks to Sandy’s vision and follow-through on her projects. I fully support Sandy Grekas as an independent candidate.

I’ve worked with Sandy on the P&C for 8 years. During her time as President, Sandy delivered many significant initiatives for the community, including delivering a new school pedestrian crossing and raising thousands of dollars in support of the school. Sandy is an honest, community focused leader that exhibits clarity and integrity in decision making. As a colleague and friend, I have no problem recommending Sandy as a leader within our local community.

I have known Sandy for more than 10 years in a variety of roles - as the former P&C President at Oatley Public School, working alongside her in the teaching profession, and more recently as a friend and advocate for improvement in participation and amenities of our grassroots football club Oatley Football Club. I have found Sandy to be trustworthy, caring, considerate, a great listener and most importantly someone who takes action to try and find solutions. I support and endorse Sandy in the re-election of her Councillor at GRC and wish her all the best. GRC needs some continuity with their leadership and someone who supports the future of our great community.

Sandy has been instrumental in fostering community support for healthcare workers at St George Hospital during the COVID pandemic. From the initial outbreak, Sandy was integral in the establishment of the Adopt a Healthcare worker group which helped to foster interest, and subsequently a ground swell of donations and support for the Staff. Without Sandy, none of it could have been achieved; she has been committed and unwavering in her support for over 18 months. She truly has been remarkable.
